Sonam Maskar wins silver medal in the 10m air rifle event at ISSF World Cup debut.

Sonam Maskar won silver in the women’s air rifle on her debut at the shooting World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, losing to Anna Janssen of Germany by 0.9 points. Nancy Mandhotra also advanced to the final with an amazing qualification score of 633.1, but missed out on a medal by 0.2 points.

 

Simranpreet Kaur Brar placed sixth in the women’s 25-metre sports pistol final on Monday after qualifying first with 586 points. Rhythm Sangwan shot 582 but missed the final by one point. Manu Bhaker, the Olympic quota winner in the event, shot 580 and finished 14th.

Munek Battula shot 74 out of 75 in the men’s skeet, placing him among the leaders. Three shooters achieved flawless 75s, and Munek was tied with four others at 74. Abhay Singh Sekhon (72) was in 19th place.

However, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, the Asian Games silver medalist and Olympic quota winner, was not at his best and finished 53rd with 67 after rounds of 22, 22, and 23.
