Amit Panghal, who won the Commonwealth Games gold medal, and Sachin, the national champion, have advanced to the semifinals of the 75th Strandja Memorial Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. Amit (51kg) maintained his good form, defeating Mongolian Aldarkhishig Battulga 5-0 by unanimous decision.
Amit looked lethal after his previous encounter, which he won decisively. He dominated the fight from the start, giving his opponent little to no opportunity of a comeback. The Haryana boxer maintained his lead throughout the game. Amit was so strong in the match that he won each round with a 5-0 verdict, his route to the semifinals.
Sachin (57kg) was equally dominant against Kapanadze Giorgi of Georgia. The southpaw boxer took some time to find his rhythm, but once he did, he appeared to be a formidable opponent.
Sachin won the opening round 4-1 and faced the game head on in the second, using his counter-attacking skills to land some devastating left hooks. The opponent attempted to be more aggressive in the third round, but Sachin easily won the fight with a 5-0 decision.
