Sumit Nagal shines in Heilbronner Neckarcup Challenger

India’s top singles tennis player, Sumit Nagal, won the Heilbronner Neckarcup ATP Challenger event by defeating Switzerland’s Alexander Ritschard in three close sets. The scores were 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. With this victory, Nagal will rise into the top 80 of the ATP Rankings, allowing him to compete in the Olympics in Paris next month.
An official announcement about this is expected soon. Ritschard, who was not seeded, gave a tough fight to Nagal, who was the third seed, especially in the second and third sets. Nagal started strong, winning two breaks and taking the first set 6-1.
Although Ritschard managed to break Nagal’s serve in the second set, Nagal proved to be the stronger player, winning the set 7-6 (7-5) and taking the match to a tiebreaker. Both players continued their competitive play into the final set.
