Switzerland confirmed that it will bid for the 2030 or 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the third time the Alpine country has hosted the event.
Switzerland has vowed to host a “decentralised” Games, utilising existing facilities dispersed around the country of almost 9 million people. The Games, it added, would be largely funded by the business sector.
According to a statement from the Swiss Olympic Association, the country’s Olympic Committee’s member federations voted overwhelmingly in support of the proposals to host the 2030 or 2034 Winter Games at their general meeting.
