Tiger Woods to play the opening event of 2023 at Riviera

Tiger Woods said that he would play in the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles, marking his first comeback to competition without the use of a cart since July.

Woods was hoping to compete in the event at Riviera, where he serves as the tournament’s host, which regularly attracts the best field of the West Coast swing even before it is elevated with a $20 million purse.

Having a case of plantar fasciitis as he was getting ready to play in December caused the doubt. He was unable to participate in his Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas due to that. He participated in the PNC Championship with his kid and a 12-hole made-for-TV showcase. He was given permission to ride in a cart both occasions.
