Tour de France to kick start in Lille in 2025

The most renowned cycling competition will begin its 2025 Tour de France in Lille, a city in the north, according to the event’s organisers. Lille, close to the Belgian border, has hosted the opening stage twice before, in 1960 and 1994.

The Tour, which began in 1903, has now been held twice abroad, in Copenhagen and Bilbao.  The race will start in Florence, Italy, and terminate in Nice instead of Paris for the first time because the Olympic Games will be held in the French capital the following year.

On November 30, the promoters, Amaury Sport Organisation, will provide further information on the Grand Depart, the first stage, and the three days of action that will take place in the area.
