US Women’s Open: Yuka Saso crowned champions

Yuka Saso from Japan won her second US Women’s Open championship by playing exceptionally well on the back nine. At Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania, she secured a three-shot victory with a score of two-under-par 68.

Three years after winning her first US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco while representing the Philippines, Saso claimed her second LPGA tour title with a total score of four-under-par 276. At 22, she is the youngest woman to win the US Women’s Open twice. She joins South Koreans Pak Se-ri and Chun In-gee as one of the few players to win major titles on the LPGA.

Saso achieved this despite a setback with a four-putt double-bogey on the par-three sixth hole. She then made a strong comeback, pulling ahead with four birdies between the 12th and 16th holes, leading over Australia’s Minjee Lee.
