Women’s hockey qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics to take place in India

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced that India, not the People’s Republic of China, will host the women’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Summer Games from January 13 to January 19.

The Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi will host all of the games.

After the Chinese women’s team won the gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou earlier this month, they automatically qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics through the FIH’s approval of the request jointly submitted by Hockey India (HI) and the Chinese Hockey Association (CHA).

One of the two women’s Olympic qualifying tournaments will take place in Valencia, Spain, and the other one will take place in Ranchi, India, rather than Changzhou, China.

Eight teams will compete in each of the FIH qualifying events for hockey in Paris 2024; the top three teams from each of these competitions will advance to the Games. Next year, there will be 12 teams competing in each gender in the Olympics.
