World’s second-fastest 10K woman to make Bengaluru debut

Emmaculate Anyango Achol, the second-fastest female 10K runner in the world, will be the featured athlete in the 16th TCS World 10K Bengaluru on April 28.

Some of the most accomplished road and track & field athletes in the world compete in the USD 210,000 World Athletics Gold Label Road Race.

Kenya’s Anyango is one of the main attractions this year; she finished second to her colleague Agnes Ngetich, who set a world record in Valencia with an amazing time of 28:57.

Anyango, who placed second in the 3000m African junior championships in 2019, came just short of placing on the Belgarde podium in the World cross-country championships this year.

In Bengaluru, five of her countrymen will also start in the women’s division, with times that are quicker than the event course record (30:35).
