In the second one-day international in Antigua, England defeated the West Indies six wickets to tie the series, but Sam Curran bounced back with a match-winning bowling performance. The worst-ever performance by an England bowler in One-Day International cricket, Curran was hammered for 98 runs from 9.5 overs as England lost the series by four wickets.
However, in the day/night match, the left arm seam and wing bowler came up big, taking three of the first four wickets as the host team was bowled out for 202 off 39.4 overs.
After that, Will Jacks led the English reply at the top of the order with 73, and Jos Buttler, the captain of England, made a welcome comeback, leading his side to victory with an undefeated 58 in an unbroken partnership of 90 with Harry Brook (43 not out). With Gus Atkinson’s help and Curran’s early explosion, the West Indies were reduced to 23 for 4.
Had it not been for the fifth wicket combination of Sherfane Rutherford (63), and captain Shai Hope (68), which scored 129 runs, the hosts would have been completely defeated. Next, spinner Liam Livingston stole the show by taking the wickets of Rutherford and Hope. He then added another wicket quickly, finishing with three wickets as well.
