Daniil Medvedev, the defending Miami Open winner, and top seed Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals on Tuesday with decisive wins.
Medvedev defeated Germany’s Dominik Koepfer 7-6 (7/5), 6-0, while Alcaraz beat Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-3 in 85 minutes. Second seed Jannik Sinner of Italy advanced to the final eight by defeating Christopher O’Connell of Australia 6-4, 6-3.
Alcaraz, who is attempting to complete the ‘Sunshine Double’ after winning at Indian Wells, was too much for 23rd seed Musetti, though the Italian did contribute to an entertaining match.
