Jorge Martin sets lap record to secure pole position

Spain’s series leader, Jorge Martin, secured pole position for both the German MotoGP sprint and the main race on Saturday. He hopes this will help him deal with the pressure from Francesco Bagnaia. Martin has struggled to stop Bagnaia, the two-time defending champion, from closing in on his championship lead. Bagnaia has won the last three races and is now only 10 points behind Martin. He could even take the lead by the end of the weekend.

Despite the pressure, Martin set a new lap record in qualifying on his Ducati-Pramac. Bagnaia, riding his factory Ducati, posted the fourth fastest time and will start from the second row.
