The British trio of Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell, and Katy Marchant sped around the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome, surpassing teams from New Zealand and Germany. They broke the record of 45.487 seconds, set by China’s Guo Yufang, Bao Shanju, and Yuan Liying in June in Luoyang city. This marks the first time in Olympic history that the women’s sprint has featured three riders, aligning with the men’s event, to post the fastest time over three laps (750 meters). In previous Olympics, the event included only two riders covering 500 meters.
