Aansh Nerurkar, 11, became the first Indian to win the Prague International Chess Festival’s future category, as well as the best team prize with GM R Praggnanandhaa. Nerurkar got eight points in nine rounds, including seven wins and two draws, for 132 FIDE rating points and a total of 1786.
He remained undefeated in matches against Poland’s Brzezina Pawel (FIDE 1914) and Slovakia’s Andre Tomas (FIDE 1915).
Nerurkar is also eligible to receive the lifetime title of Candidate Master (CM) from FIDE in the future months. He has 163 victories, 47 draws, and 68 losses in his career, according to a release.
