Swiatek’s accurate serving and quick defence were too much for her Greek opponent in a rematch of the 2022 final, as the Pole reeled off the final eight games to cap off a tournament in which she did not lose a set. Swiatek, who won her third consecutive Qatar Open in Doha last month, smiled broadly on the sun-soaked stadium court after reclaiming the Indian Wells trophy. The top seed started well in Sunday’s final, taking a 3-0 lead before Sakkari battled her way back into the set for 4-4.
But on her third set point, the Pole dragged Sakkari from one half of the court to the other before winning the first set with a forehand winner.
