The Indian women’s team earned a historic gold medal in the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships, defeating Thailand 3-2 in the final in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist and world No. 11, opened off India’s title run with a 21-12, 21-12 victory over Supanida Katethong, ranked 17th.
The Indian badminton star outclassed her Thai adversary in the first singles rubber, winning in just 39 minutes. Sindhu’s fifth victory in eight encounters versus Katethong. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, who had previously delivered outstanding performances throughout the event, stepped up once more in the second rubber. The world No. 23 Indian badminton pair defeated the 10th-ranked Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai 21-16, 18-21, 21-16, giving India a 2-0 lead.
