At the Asian Games 2023, the India men’s badminton team battled hard against the reigning champion China but ultimately settled for silver.
Lakshya Sen entered the court first for the Indian side in a singles match. In three games, he defeated Shi Yuqi of China (22-20, 14-21, 21-18). In the decisive game, Sen fell behind 14-9 at one point before rallying to give India the lead. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy enhanced the advantage by defeating the World No. 2 pair 21-15, 21-18 in 55 minutes.
To protect its championship, China, however, came back and won three straight games.
