Manchester United made a deadline day move for Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain. The 23-year-old, who spent only one season with the French champions, joins the English club for an initial fee of €50 million, with an additional €10 million based on performance-related bonuses. Ugarte is United’s fifth major signing of the transfer window, following defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee. Ugarte has earned 22 caps for Uruguay and was named in the team of the tournament after helping his country secure third place at the Copa America last month.
