The season-opening Indian Open 400m 2024 at LNCPE, Kariyattom featured close races in both the men’s and women’s categories, resulting in strong contention for spots on the World Relay Championships squad in May. The men’s 400m final included three horses: Noah Nirmal Tom, Muhammed Anas Yahiya, and V. Muhammed Ajmal. Following the first turn, the trio pulled away from the rest of the field. Noah took the lead at the second turn, with Anas and Ajmal following close behind. Noah held off his opponents to finish in 46.40 seconds. Yahiya, the national record holder, finished second in 46.48 seconds, with Muhammed Ajmal third in 46.68 seconds. The men’s event lost some of its shine when Amoj Jacob withdrew out before the heats owing to back spasms.
