The 2024 Paris Olympics will be a historic event, featuring an equal number of male and female athletes for the first time ever. The IOC expects more than 5,000 women to compete, a huge increase from the 22 women who took part in the 1900 Paris Games when women first joined the Olympics. This year, the Opening Ceremony will take place on the Seine River instead of a stadium, with athletes cruising along the river through central Paris. Additionally, most spectators will be able to watch the ceremony for free along the route, making it a unique and memorable start to the Games.
