Prague Masters 2024: Praggnanandhaa beats Keymer in opener

 

India’s R. Praggnanandhaa put on a spectacular performance to defeat German Vincent Keymer in the first round of the Prague Masters Chess competition. With this victory, Praggnanandhaa surpassed Viswanathan Anand in live ratings to reclaim the top rank in the country.

Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan defeated Thai Dai Van Nguyen of Czechia, and Parham Maghsoodloo of Iran scored a full point against Mateusz Bartel of Poland.

In other games on the day, D. Gukesh had a chance to win but had to settle for a draw with Richard Rapport of Romania, while Vidit Gujrathi shared a point with David Navara of Czechia.
